Okay, so I contribute about as much to this blog as I do to dinner preparation ... yeah, you guessed correctly: not much. However, I am going to try a bit harder to fulfill some of these obligations.
So, E's birthday was last week and we decided we would take her to the Build-A-Bear Worshop as a nice birthday surprise. We spent the 1st 15 minutes deciding which type of empty plush animal carcass E would like best, reminding her that she would be going to bed each night holding this new best friend. When she finally decided upon a Black Labrador puppy, we explained to her that she didn't get to just take the display model, but that we picked an empty shell with which we would then GET to stuff with fluffy white innards. She quickly developed a somewhat cross expression on her face and questioned matter-of-factly: "Why do I have to stuff my own puppy?"
So, Build-A-Bear Workshop, I would like to thank you and your faulty business model for ruining my 4-year-old's birthday. Incidentally, we also thought it funny/cute that when it came to actually stuffing her puppy (which she later named Shadow), she thought it too stiff and asked if it could be made more 'spongy'. No wonder E has her own TV channel.

Is it really that terrifying?
So, I've been sick for the last few days with a cold. You know, headache, chills, congestion, coughing, etc. Well, yesterday as I was driving the kids to school a coughing fit came over me. **disclaimer: this is kind of gross** O.K. it was the kind of coughing fit where the mucous is so thick that you can't inhale another breath. You know what I mean: The kind where you cough and feel the mucous like it is covering your windpipe and if you try to inhale any harder you know that glob is just going to shoot down into your lungs and probably kill you, right? Just me? Anyway, I realize that my body is in panic mode and I can't breathe. So I pull over and as I do, I realize that I am going to throw up (part of panic mode, I guess), so I fling my door open and jump out. I get my business over with (ahem) and then I climb back into the car quickly because, well, we're going to be late. I look in my rearview mirror to check if the way is clear and catch C's eye. Then I hear him say, (as if to reassure himself) "It's o.k. She's not pregnant again. She's just been sick. It's o.k." Now, right here is when my snotty nature comes out and I was soooo tempted to say something like "Well, I guess the cat's out of the bag now. We're having another baby!" and let him sweat it out until I picked him up from school that afternoon and tell him I was teasing him. It would have served him right, the little moco. So to answer the question of the post title "Is it really that terrifying" The answer is YES!! (shudder)

O-kay......
So, I don't know what I'm teaching my children. I am hoping that my three-year-old's weirdness is due to being, you know, three years old. I definitely remember her older sister saying some crazy things at the same age. That being said:
E and I were at the grocery store after getting haircuts last Saturday (thank you, I know, we both look gorgeous). E had her lollipop (from GreatClips) in her hand as we shopped, still in the wrapper. It fell to the floor and I didn't notice it, but a young man (20s-ish) walking the opposite direction did, and so he picked it up and brought it to E. I thanked him and as he walked away, I said to E "What a nice person!" E answered, "Yeah. He's NOT going to kill us!"
Seriously. I just replied "No, he's not!" as if it were a normal thing to say, and kept walking.
